Benefits of Play

We enjoy integrating play with our formal learning experiences.  Benefits of play-based learning include:  opportunities to experiment with our creativity, developing our social skills, enhancing our vocabulary, engaging with one another, learning how to negotiate and establishing friendships.

Learning is Fun!

Recognizing the letters of the alphabet and knowing the sounds they make is a really important skill that helps us develop as readers and writers.  We enjoy reading the Letterland ABC book and singing the Jolly Phonics song (click on the link below to watch it).

Emily and Tristan have also been working together to match lower case and capital letters.  Tristan used the alphabet on the wall to check that he had matched the letter 'b' correctly.

A Visit from MacKenzie

Last Thursday MacKenzie came to visit.  She was very excited to wear her school uniform for the first time.  Mrs Blithe put the dinosaur egg into a container of water and we had fun watching to see if it had broken.

Letter of the Week - Ll

Last Friday we had fun making lion masks to celebrate the letter 'l'.  Emily made a pattern around the edge of her mask, and Tristan highlighted his orange edging with strips of yellow.  They look great up on our classroom wall!
